Machine Quilting Workshops

I have tutored machine quilting professionals in my quilting room at The Quilt Connection; demonstrated at Queensland Machine Quilting gatherings; I am a mentor to several machine quilters through the Mentoring Program offered to members of the Australian Machine Quilting Association; and I have accepted invitations to teach at the following machine quilting events:

If you have purchased a longarm machine quilting system and require some assistance to kick start your business off the ground, I may be able to help. I offer half-day or full-day, one-to-one tuition for the beginner.

The pricing set out below is for one-on-one classes. I will be happy to discuss other options to meet your specific needs. Demonstration-type classes can be arranged and the fee per student will be determind by the number attending.

In the Beginning

In this workshop, I will step you through the process of loading a quilt on a long arm quilting machine. We will discuss wide backings, striped backings and pieced backings. I will show you how to float a quilt top and stabilise as you go.

Quilting with Templates

In this workshop, I introduce students to my techniques of working with a number of different perspex templates and rulers. I will demonstrate ways of utilising templates to create a variety of sashing, block, and border designs.

What to Put Where

In this class, we will discuss different quilting options for a number of different quilts from the simplest of classic quilting styles to the added, more creative and intricate third dimension.
